49ers Re-sign Son of Great WR Terrell Owens

The San Francisco 49ers are strengthening their pass catchers by including a practice squad member with a known face.

NFL insider Mike Garafolo claims, "The #49ers are re-signing WR Terique Owens, son of Hall of Famer Terrell Owens, to the practice squad, according to his agent @ Agent_Big_Al."

With the team this summer, the selected free agent waived in August due to a hand injury. Healthy now, he is back in Santa Clara."

Terique Owens, the son of San Francisco legend Terrell Owens, is a former undrafted free agent the 49ers intend to bring back. Terique had been with the club in the summer, but he was waived due to a hand injury.

Terique secured 528 yards and four touchdowns on 28 receptions while playing for Missouri State in 2023.

With Missouri State, the younger Owens spent the 2021 to 2023 seasons accumulating 765 yards and four touchdowns. His longest reception was 46 yards and 16.6 yards per catch.

Terique was signed by the 49ers after going unpackled. He battled uphill to be on the 53-man roster, but he sustained a hand injury that sidelined him five to seven weeks. The 49ers waived Terique under an injury classification.

Terique caught touchdown passes in 11-on-11 drills and had been performing really well in training camps. Had he kept being able to play, he might have made the squad.

Attending his Pro Day with Missouri State, the young receiver posted a 4.51 40-yard dash as front office for the 49ers was present. Terique first attended Contra Costa College, then moved to Florida Atlantic in 2020, and lastly Missouri State.
