The pricing of Taylor Swift’s items, notably a branded candle, has been the subject of criticism from a number of Swift’s admirers who have resorted to social media to voice their disapproval.
There is a wide variety of merchandise available on Swift’s website, which includes a selection of collectibles and curiosities in addition to clothing. And despite the fact that her followers, who are affectionately referred to as “Swifties,” are well-known for their loyalty to the celebrity, some of them have voiced their dissatisfaction with the prices.
On Swift’s website, a candle that is 8 ounces in size can be purchased for $50. Additionally, the name of the star’s most recent album, The Tortured Poets Department, is printed on both the glass jar and the box that contain the soy candle merchandise. According to the website, the candle “has a scent that is reminiscent of oud and amber.”
On X, which was then known as Twitter, a fan posted a screenshot of the candle in question, which is a part of Taylor Swift’s Christmas collection. The person said, “I appreciate Taylor Swift’s merchandise, but $50 for [an] 8 ounce candle is extremely outrageous.”
@taylorswift13, you need to hurry up and get that done. Despite the fact that I like you, girl, this candle is just insane. Your supporters should not be exploited in such a manner for your own benefit.
The candle, according to one fan, “better smells like Taylor herself,” while another admirer pointed out that the price of the candle was fifty dollars. Even spending ten dollars for a candle that I can actually smell before buying it is not something I enjoy doing.
Is it just me, or is it crazy to pay fifty dollars for a candle? said another person.
One of the comments stated, “Taylor Swift herself had better come and light the candle for that price.”
An other admirer weighed in to add another product to their list of complaints, saying, “I love you Taylor, but $75 for a blanket and $50 for a candle?!
Although the price of Taylor Swift’s candle has been a topic of discussion among her followers, it is not out of the ordinary for a candle with a celebrity theme to be priced at that amount. Recently, the haircare and lifestyle company Cécred, which is owned by Beyoncé, introduced a limited-edition candle that is of a comparable size and retails for sixty dollars. A collaboration between Kacey Musgraves and Boy Smell, Slow Burn, was released with a price tag of $56 when it was first released.
A representative of Swift has been approached by Newsweek via email in order to obtain a comment.
There was a different kind of discussion that took place last week on the products that Swift sells on her website, despite the fact that the price point of a Swift-branded candle has not received the best accolades.
A screenshot of three sweaters stacked on top of one another was posted on Swift’s website on November 13, and admirers shared it with his followers. The picture has been interpreted as a sign that Taylor Swift would be releasing recordings of her debut album, which was released in 2006, as well as her album, which was released in 2017, titled Reputation.
On the image’s X, a fan wrote, “WAIT…. This is an Easter egg,” referring to the Easter egg. “WE ARE GETTING DEBUT TV BEFORE SUMMER AND THEN AFTER SUMMER WE GET REP TV.”
In this particular instance, the “TV” in question is referred to as “Taylor’s Version,” and it is comprised of re-recordings of past albums that Swift has released as a result of a copyright battle with music mogul Scooter Braun. During the year 2019, the record executive acquired Big Machine Records, which was Swift’s initial record label. This acquisition granted him control of her first six albums.
The picture displayed the top jumper, which featured Taylor Swift’s name, followed by another jumper that was emblazoned with the words “Summer With You,” which were taken from the lyrics of her song “Cruel Summer.” The fourth jumper, which was located at the bottom, had the words “Starry Eyes,” which were derived from the lyrics of Taylor Swift’s song “Call It What You Want,” which is included on her album Reputation.
With the “Summer” top serving as the separator, fans have speculated based on the post that Swift’s rendition of Taylor Swift would most likely be published in the first half of the year, while a fresh recording of Reputation will follow in the second half of the year.
Swift made the announcement that she would re-record her albums in 2019, following the acquisition of the rights to Swift’s master recordings from her first six albums by music entrepreneur Braun, who then sold those rights to Shamrock Holdings.
During the period beginning in 2021, Taylor Swift has released re-recordings of the albums Fearless (2008), Red (2012), Speak Now (2010), and 1989 (2014). Swift’s self-titled debut album and Reputation are the only two of the recordings that have not yet been re-recorded. This is the case as of the present moment.
In April, Taylor Swift released her most current studio album, which was titled The Tortured Poets Department. It was the eleventh album she has released.
